I hate the summer because of the flies that always get into the house, and buzz around everywhere in their horrible fly-y way. Well, we have discovered the perfect solution to the fly problem. First of all you need to create a little area outside your back door covered in slate chippings, which look very pretty, by the way. Then you need to get yourself a couple of cats, preferably the neighbour's cats, because they're much cheaper to look after, who don't get on with each other and are continually battling with each other for the lazing rights to your home. Ideally, one of them should decide that he is going to use the lovely slate chippings area as a toilet. The piles of cat shit that gather outside your back door attracts the flies, and they are so distracted by the feast on offer that they rarely venture indoors. Of course, the downside to all of this is that you can't open your back door because of the stench of cat shit. You can clean it up every now and then if you want to, but always make sure you clean under your fingernails afterwards.
